Tarbogei Rono

Taborgei Rono (Martha Jepkoech) is a Nandi writer and poet whose work interrogates the intersections of heritage, feminism, and social justice. She was recently honored as the 1st Runners Up for the Emerging Poet Award by Penwarriors Kenya and has been published by Qwani, The Kalahari Review among others. Her writing is a deliberate “unearthing”,using the oral traditions of the Kalenjin people to address critical societal issues and the friction of modern identity. She believes that the ink of the modern writer must carry the smoke of the ancestors' fire. When not writing, she enjoys immersing herself in poetry and empowering conversations that inspire change.Connect with her on Instagram at @taborgeipoetry to explore more of her work.
